Retailer Goes Above and Beyond Florida’s Sales Tax Holiday
Florida Lawn & Garden Provides Consumers First of its Kind Opportunity
Program Developed to Protect Consumers from Unscrupulous Profiteers
May 17, 2006, West Palm Beach & Stuart, FL— Florida Lawn & Garden, a leading power retailer, today announced it is giving back to the communities it serves from Boca Raton to Vero Beach, Florida. Florida Lawn & Garden is extending consumers savings on “industry leading” Honda Generators, over and above the state of Florida’s allowance during the Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday. Florida Lawn & Garden Owner Steve Frabitore initiated a program to run simultaneously with the Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday taking place from May 21st to June 1st 2006. Frabitore commented, “I am going to do everything I can to make sure my neighbors in Florida aren’t taken advantage of by profiteers whose only motive is to make a fast buck.”
During the Sales Tax Holiday, Florida is waiving tax on all generators costing $1,000 or less. In addition to honoring the State’s program, Florida Lawn & Garden is offering consumers a savings of 6.5% on all generators costing $1,000 or more. Commenting on the program, Frabitore states, “Essentially, we are offering the same tax-free savings on all generator purchases, and putting all our generators on sale for this event. If the generator’s $1,000, it's tax-free. If it’s over $1,000 I provide an extra 6.5% off the sale price. The net result is that on generators over $1,000, the consumer’s final price is better than the tax-free price alone.” Governor Jeb Bush instituted the Sales Tax Holiday to foster a “culture of preparedness in Florida”. Frabitore continued, “I want to see the same thing. And, I believe it begins with purchasing a top quality generator.”
Frabitore initiated the program to give Florida’s consumers the incentive and the opportunity to purchase a quality generator well in advance of the storm. He says, “In order to save money, many people wait too late to buy a quality generator. Other people purchase a cheap generator thinking they are saving money.” He continued, “The end result is the same. These same people end up spending more for a quality generator after the storm, than they would had they prepared prior to the storm. I am doing all I can to see this scenario come to an end.”
Florida Lawn & Garden sells only Honda generators, widely noted as the most reliable in the industry in every power class. Florida Lawn & Garden is one of South Florida's largest outdoor power equipment dealerships. In business for more than two decades, Florida Lawn & Garden transitioned from a small shop to a mega-dealer in 2002.
