Mary Beth Burns stars in this one “nun” show with a classroom as her set. No audience member is “safe” from her sharp wit and even sharper tongue. Laugh with hysterical audience interaction and improvisation. This comedy is so hilarious it could be habit forming.
Tickets are $32 for the evening shows and $15 for the matinee.
Tickets can be purchased at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Box Office, online at www.jupitertheatre.org or by phone 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened in February, 2004 as a 550-seat, nonprofit community-based professional regional theatre and is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres. Bios: MARY BETH BURNS (Sister)
Mary Beth Burns (SAG) is a Chicago native and was raised Northside Irish Catholic. All of her sisters are named Mary and her parents have earned credit in heaven for having named them so. Mary Beth graduated from The Second City Conservatory in Chicago, and went on to perform with their national touring company. She received her B.A. in Speech and Performing Arts from Northeastern Illinois University in 1990. Chicago acting credits include: The Physicists, Dracula, Harvey, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Ms. Burns performs nationally and internationally with her irreverent and award winning Chicago sketch comedy troupe, which she helped to found in 1997. The troupe’s name is too controversial to put in her bio, but if you buy her a venti coffee frappuccino after class she might talk. In addition to performing Mary Beth teaches sketch comedy writing at The Second City in Chicago. She recently wrote a short film titled Old Maid, which was filmed and will be coming soon to a left wing film festival near you. Mary Beth is eternally grateful to her loving family for their unwavering support and love, the Benedictine Sisters, faculty and staff of St. Scholastica Academy, friends of Bill and of course, God, without whom none of this would be possible.
MARIPAT DONOVAN (Playwright) originated the role of Sister in Late Nite Catechism and has toured internationally, receiving rave reviews for her work in Chicago, Boston, Providence, New York, Toronto, Philadelphia, Seattle, Portland, London and Dublin. She has worked in Chicago theatre for more that 20 years, winning Joseph Jefferson citations for her work in Portrait of a Shiksa and The Good Times are Killing Me. For her work in Late Nite Catechism, she was nominated for the coveted Outer Critics Circle Award in New York for Outstanding Solo Performances. She won the Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Solo Performance in Los Angeles.
VICKI QUADE (Playwright) is a Chicago writer, poet and editor. She grew up thinking that the nuns in her school were the product of a dangerous liaison between humans and angels. Later, when four nuns picked her up while she was waiting for a late night bus, she knew they were okay! She now sends her three children, Michael, David, Catherine, to Catholic schools in Chicago. In addition to Late Nite Catechism, she and Maripat Donovan have finished a sequel, and also wrote Room for Advancement, which had its world premiere in 1994. Vicki’s comedy, Mr. Nanny, finished a successful nine-month run in 1998. Her newest piece, a musical, Lost in Wonderland, has had staged readings.
