| Anonymous Donor Challenges Maltz Jupiter Theatre Supporters |
admin writes, "The Maltz Jupiter Theatre has announced that an anonymous donor has issued a challenge grant in the amount of $500,000 in an effort to enlarge and diversify the donor base with like-minded people who wish to promote live theater in the North County. Every donation received by the theatre will be matched dollar for dollar up to $500,000.
Individuals wishing to contribute may contact Tricia Trimble, the theatre’s Director of Development, at (561) 743-2666 (ext. 122) for more information. Donations may be in the form of cash, credit cards or even stock transfers. The MJT is requesting that all supporters consider the many benefits the theatre provides to the community and that all its supporters consider making a donation at this time."

The theatre provides year-round programming to the community as well as an educational outreach for children and young adults through its Theatre Institute. Programs include: theatre camps, acting classes and training in all aspects of production. Since its opening, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre has enjoyed tremendous growth. Subscriptions for its plays and musicals have increased dramatically since its inaugural year. The theatrical fare is augmented with over forty concerts and special events throughout the year featuring such artists as John Pizzarelli, Capitol Steps, Carbonell Award winner Elaine Stritch, other Tony Award winners like Barbara Cook and Carol Channing, Jazz great Maynard Ferguson, Pops and classical music concerts and many others. In addition, the theatre is available to rent to other arts organizations for lectures, special events, and recitals.
Peter Croken, the theatre’s Executive Director stated, “the theatre is here for all of us to enjoy. Artistic Director, Andrew Kato, added that “this is a wonderful way for the community to support our hometown theatre knowing that every dollar donated is instantly doubled.”
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. The theatre, originally operated under the name “Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater”, reopened in February of 2004 after extensive renovations. “There was a tremendous desire from the community for the establishment of a cultural institution in the North County. Many people poured blood, sweat and tears into making this theatre a reality but the job continues,” said Croken. As with most regional theatres, ticket prices are deliberately kept low to allow all members of the community full access to the diverse and varied opportunities for learning about the human experience through the art of theatre. Ticket revenue generally covers about 50% of the operation of similar institutions.
