LIGHTHOUSE PHOTOGRAPHS ON EXHIBIT
writes, "Jupiter, FL: The Loxahatchee River Historical Museum (805 North US Highway One, Burt Reynold’s Park in Jupiter) is excited to announce the stunning photographs of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse in an exhibit entitled “House of Light: A New Perspective” running from Tuesday, August 12 to Sunday, September 14. Created in conjunction with the Palm Beach Post, this exhibit will feature twenty 20” x 30” color photographs of the Jupiter Light taken by Palm Beach Post staff photographer Bill Ingram.

Eleven photographs first appeared in TGIF, the Post’s popular Friday magazine section on July 18, 2003, with an additional thirteen images offered on their web site. “Interest in the photographs was immediate and widespread,” said Executive Director Jamie Stuve. “We were delighted that Mr. Ingram and the Palm Beach Post were willing to help us create this special exhibit so quickly. We really want the public to experience the full impact of these amazing images.”

The photographs were taken at night in April and focus primarily on interior shots of the stairway, the First Order Fresnel lens, and the Lens Room. The architectural grandeur of the 1860 lighthouse is beautifully highlighted by the Ingram images, and the viewer is given a new perspective on our oldest Palm Beach County structure.

Bill Ingram, a resident of Wellington, used a Canon EOS 1 Digital camera and has been taking photographs for the Palm Beach Post the past ten years. “I went looking for a caption line photograph and came across the Lighthouse,” Ingram said. “I called the Museum to see if it was a possibility to shoot at night and with their permission these shots happened.”

The Museum is open Tuesday – Friday, 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday – Sunday, 12 pm to 5 pm. Admission is $3 per person. Call 561.747.6639 for more information.
