TEQUESTA, Fla. — Two familiar names in Tequesta’s dining and nightlife scene are entering a new chapter following their acquisition by the newly formed Tequesta Restaurant Group, LLC.
Tequesta Restaurant Group, or TRG, announced that it has acquired Local’s Pub, located at 381 Tequesta Drive, and The Salty Zebra, located next door at 377 Tequesta Drive. According to the company’s announcement, TRG was founded by four local residents — Gary Haseley, Dan Reedy, Bob Bailey and Ken Kennerly — with plans to invest in the two establishments while maintaining their connection to the Tequesta community.
The acquisition will bring significant changes to The Salty Zebra, while Local’s Pub is expected to continue operating in its familiar form.
Local’s Pub to Remain Open
For regulars at Local’s Pub, TRG says the neighborhood watering hole will remain open and continue offering the atmosphere, menu favorites, live entertainment and familiar staff that have helped make it a popular gathering place.
The pub has established itself as a casual neighborhood destination centered around sports, live music and pub food. Its current website promotes live music on Thursday and Friday nights, sports on big-screen televisions and a no-reservations approach.
TRG said preserving that identity is an important part of its plans.
“As one of Palm Beach County’s most desirable places to live, work, and play, Tequesta deserves exceptional dining and entertainment experiences,” the company said in its announcement. “TRG’s goal is to enhance these community favorites while preserving the character that makes them special.”
The Salty Zebra to Become The Pub Tequesta
The larger transformation will take place next door.
According to TRG, The Salty Zebra will undergo a complete renovation and reopen as The Pub Tequesta, a new upscale sports and dining destination.
The project represents a substantial change for the 377 Tequesta Drive space. The Salty Zebra has operated as a modern American bistro, earning attention for its chef-driven menu and locally sourced ingredients.
Under TRG’s plans, the renovated property will take on a sports-and-entertainment focus while retaining an elevated approach to food and drinks.
The Pub Tequesta is expected to feature elevated food and cocktails, live entertainment, premium televisions and what the ownership group describes as a state-of-the-art audiovisual system.
TRG said renovations are expected to be completed by late November 2026.
A Local Investment in Tequesta’s Dining Scene
The acquisition comes as Tequesta continues to support a diverse collection of locally oriented restaurants, bars and gathering places.
For TRG, the stated goal is to build on that community identity rather than replace it. Having four local residents behind the newly formed company also gives the project a distinctly hometown focus.
The strategy effectively creates two different experiences within neighboring properties: Local’s Pub will maintain its relaxed, established neighborhood-bar character, while The Pub Tequesta is being positioned as a more upscale destination for dining, sports and entertainment.
Additional details about The Pub Tequesta, including its food and beverage offerings and reopening plans, are expected to be announced as renovations progress.
In the meantime, Local’s Pub will continue welcoming customers at 381 Tequesta Drive.
For longtime patrons, the ownership change may bring something increasingly difficult to accomplish in a growing community: introducing something new while keeping a familiar local gathering place intact.
