Learn the basics of prong stone setting and jewelry making during this hands-on, beginner-friendly Applied Prong Setting Workshop.
In this two-hour metalsmithing and jewelry-making class, participants will learn how to size, form, and solder sterling silver using a butane torch to create a custom applied prong setting pendant. No previous jewelry-making or metalsmithing experience is required.
Bring your own cabochon, sea glass, seashell, or another flat-bottomed object to use as the centerpiece of your pendant. Pieces should measure between 0.5 and 1.5 inches.
During the workshop, you’ll learn foundational skills including basic soldering, forming sterling silver, and prong stone setting. By the end of class, you’ll leave with your own wearable piece of handmade sterling silver jewelry and new skills you can use in future jewelry-making projects.
