Matthew Cairo, a young entrepreneur with a passion for both business and his Italian heritage, set out to create an authentic, handcrafted Italian gelato everyone would love. To perfect his craft, Matty moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where he trained with a Gelato Master from Italy, learning the art and refining his recipes.

After an extensive search, Matty chose Plaza La Mer in Juno Beach, Florida, close to his South Florida roots, to open Matty's Gelato Factory in March 2017. Since then, Matty’s has gained national recognition, ranking among the top 5 ice cream shops in the U.S. by Yelp in 2019, and earning titles like Best Ice Cream in Florida from Travel + Leisure and Food & Wine. Named Best Dessert in Florida by Yelp in 2021 and consistently ranked in the top 3 desserts in Palm Beach County from 2020 to 2023, Matty’s Gelato Factory is now celebrated as the county’s Best Ice Cream/Frozen Yogurt spot.
