Jonathan Dickinson State Park Invites the Community to Weekly Guided Nature Walks
There’s a new reason to lace up your walking shoes and head outdoors each week. Jonathan Dickinson State Park is offering guided nature walks every Friday, giving locals and visitors alike a chance to explore one of South Florida’s most iconic natural landscapes alongside knowledgeable park staff.
The walks begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Kimbell Center and cover approximately one mile, making them accessible for all skill levels. Led by AmeriCorps members and park rangers, each hike offers more than just a stroll—participants are treated to stories, insights, and up-close looks at the plants, wildlife, and history that make JDSP such a treasured local resource.
From native flora and animal habitats to the park’s unique ecosystems, the guided walks are designed to deepen appreciation for the area while keeping things relaxed and family-friendly. Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome, making it an easy outing for the whole household.
Participants are encouraged to bring water, sunscreen, and a sense of curiosity, as the experience is equal parts educational and refreshing. Whether you’re a longtime local, a seasonal visitor, or someone simply looking to unplug and reconnect with nature, these weekly hikes offer a simple, meaningful way to spend a Friday afternoon.
