Mullet Run 5K Returns to Abacoa on February 7 to Support Marine Research on the Treasure Coast

Runners, walkers, and ocean lovers alike are invited to lace up for a cause at the Mullet Run 5K, happening Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the heart of Abacoa, Jupiter. This family-friendly community race combines fitness, fun, and a powerful mission: supporting critical marine research and conservation efforts along Florida’s Treasure Coast.

Set against the charming streets and scenic backdrop of Abacoa, the Mullet Run welcomes participants of all ages for a spirited 5K that goes far beyond race day. Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Saltwater Guides Association (ASGA), a leading nonprofit dedicated to protecting marine resources through science-driven fisheries management and conservation-based research.

Running for the Future of Florida’s Waters

What makes the Mullet Run especially meaningful is its direct connection to cutting-edge ocean science. Funds raised will support ASGA’s initiative to enhance the region’s acoustic receiver network, an important tool used in acoustic telemetry research.

These underwater tracking arrays allow scientists to monitor the movement and migration patterns of marine species such as:

• Fish and game species

• Dolphins

• Sea turtles

• Manta rays

• And other ocean wildlife

The data collected is shared through a collaborative research network, helping scientists and conservationists better understand—and protect—the ecosystems that make Florida’s coastal waters so unique.
