National Battle of the Bands
National Battle of the Bands
One of the most electrifying traditions in collegiate music is returning to South Florida this winter. The 2026 Pepsi National Battle of the Bands will take over Flagler Credit Union Stadium on Saturday, January 17, bringing three of the nation’s most celebrated HBCU marching bands to The Palm Beaches for an unforgettable MLK Weekend showcase.
Set for a 4 p.m. showtime (with doors opening at 2:30 p.m.), the event features powerhouse performances from Florida A&M University’s legendary Marching “100,” South Carolina State University’s Marching 101, and Southern University’s Human Jukebox—bands known not only for their musical precision, but for the cultural storytelling, choreography, and crowd-moving energy that define the HBCU marching band tradition.
For local audiences, the Battle of the Bands offers more than a concert. It’s a full sensory experience—blaring brass, thunderous percussion, intricate formations, and call-and-response moments that turn stadiums into celebrations. Each band brings its own sound, history, and fiercely loyal fan base, creating a competitive yet communal atmosphere that keeps fans on their feet from start to finish.
Held during MLK Weekend, the event also serves as a cultural gathering point, drawing alumni, families, students, and music lovers from across Florida and beyond. With warm South Florida weather as the backdrop, it’s an opportunity to experience HBCU culture live—up close and unapologetically loud—while much of the country is still bundled up for winter.
Tickets for the National Battle of the Bands start at $20, making it an accessible event for families, longtime fans, and first-time attendees alike. For many in the community, it’s quickly becoming a can’t-miss January tradition—where music, history, and energy collide on the West Side.
