Stories Under the Chickee: A Morning of Fun, Florida History & Imagination
If you’re looking for a sweet slice of old Florida charm wrapped in family fun, mark your calendar for Storytime & Crafts for Kids! on Saturday, November 15, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum.
This monthly program has quickly become a local favorite among parents and little ones alike — and it’s easy to see why. Held outdoors beneath the shade of the museum’s traditional Seminole Chickee hut, Storytime transforms a morning into a mini adventure. Children in Pre-K through Kindergarten are invited to explore tales of lighthouse keepers, discover Florida’s fascinating wildlife, and get creative with themed crafts inspired by our coastal environment.
Each session blends imagination, education, and hands-on fun, giving kids a chance to learn about the place they call home while surrounded by the sights and sounds of the riverfront. Parents are encouraged to bring a towel or mat for seating and plenty of water to stay cool.
Space is limited, so advance registration is recommended — especially since spots tend to fill quickly. Admission is just $5 per child (with one accompanying parent included), while extra adults pay standard entry. And while Storytime doesn’t include a lighthouse climb, it’s the perfect excuse to plan a family visit and enjoy the museum grounds afterward.
As always, sessions are weather dependent — so check the forecast before you go and get ready for a morning filled with sunshine, stories, and smiles.
