The Jupiter Farms school proposal for a private Christian K-12 campus continues to generate discussion throughout the community as it moves toward a final decision by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners.
The proposal, submitted by Calvary Church, seeks approval for a private K-12 school campus on approximately 18.6 acres near the southeast corner of Indiantown Road and Rocky Pines Road. Plans call for a school serving up to 985 students, along with a gymnasium, athletic field, playgrounds, and supporting campus facilities.
The Jupiter Farms school proposal recently received a unanimous recommendation for denial from the Palm Beach County Zoning Commission. However, the commission’s vote is only a recommendation, and the final decision will be made by county commissioners.
The project has been the subject of multiple public meetings and extensive community discussion over the past several months, drawing both support and opposition from residents.
Why Some Residents Oppose the Project
Residents who oppose the Jupiter Farms school proposal say a school serving up to 985 students would be out of character with the community’s rural lifestyle.
Concerns raised during public meetings and community discussions have included increased traffic on Indiantown Road and surrounding local roads, school-related congestion during peak hours, noise, and the potential for additional development pressure in an area known for larger residential lots, equestrian properties, and open space.
Some residents have also argued that the scale of the project is inconsistent with the character of the surrounding community and could set a precedent for future high-intensity development in Jupiter Farms.
Why Some Residents Support the Project
Supporters of the proposal say the school would provide another educational option for families in northern Palm Beach County and help meet demand for private Christian education in the area.
Advocates have also pointed to Calvary Church’s existing presence in the community and argue that the project would create a campus designed to serve local families while providing educational, recreational, and community benefits.
Zoning Commission Recommends Denial
The Palm Beach County Zoning Commission unanimously voted to recommend denial of the application. County planning staff had also recommended against the project, citing concerns about compatibility with the surrounding area.
While the recommendation represents a significant hurdle for the proposal, county commissioners are not required to follow the zoning commission’s recommendation when making their final decision.
Hearing Scheduled for July 14
According to information shared with residents, the proposal is scheduled to be heard by county commissioners on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at the Palm Beach County Government Center in West Palm Beach.
The hearing is expected to draw residents from both sides of the issue as commissioners consider one of the most closely watched development proposals currently affecting the Jupiter Farms community.
