Hobe Sound Nature Center Offers Winter Nature Camp During Holiday Break
Families looking to keep kids engaged, curious, and outdoors during winter break have a unique option this season as the Hobe Sound Nature Center launches its 3-Day Winter Nature Camp from December 28–30. Designed for children ages 6 to 10, the camp blends science, art, and hands-on exploration in one of Martin County’s most beautiful natural settings.
Held at the Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, the winter camp invites children to step away from screens and into nature. Guided by the Nature Center’s experienced wildlife educators, campers will take part in winter-themed projects, creative activities, and outdoor adventures that spark curiosity and encourage discovery.
Throughout the three days, children will have the chance to interact with animal ambassadors, learn about local wildlife, and explore the surrounding scrub habitat and Indian River Lagoon. The program emphasizes experiential learning—allowing campers to observe, ask questions, and connect with the natural world through both science and art-based activities.
While the Hobe Sound Nature Center’s camps are popular in the summer, this winter session offers a special opportunity for kids to experience the refuge during a quieter, cooler season—when wildlife activity and outdoor exploration are especially rewarding.
The cost for the three-day camp is $100 per child, and space is limited, making early registration strongly recommended. For families seeking a meaningful, educational, and adventure-filled way to spend part of winter break, the Winter Nature Camp offers a memorable experience rooted in exploration and environmental appreciation.
