Aicher House & Train Depot Open House Invites Families to Step Into Jupiter’s Past

Young explorers and history lovers will have a rare opportunity to travel back in time as the Town of Jupiter hosts an Open House at the historic Aicher House and Train Depot on Friday, December 12, at Sawfish Bay Park. The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a special Children’s Archaeological Dig taking place from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free, and no registration is required.

The open house offers guests a chance to tour two of Jupiter’s most iconic historic structures—both beautifully preserved to showcase early life along the Loxahatchee River and Florida’s east coast. Visitors can explore the interiors, learn about the families who once lived and worked here, and hear stories that bring Jupiter’s early days vividly to life.

Children’s Archaeological Dig

But the highlight of the afternoon is designed especially for kids: a hands-on Children’s Archaeological Dig, where young adventurers can sift, search, and “excavate” for replica artifacts. In addition to the dig, children will have the chance to create their own pottery, handle educational materials, and learn about how archaeologists uncover clues from the past. It’s a fun blend of science, creativity, and local history wrapped into one interactive experience.

The event takes place at Sawfish Bay Park (1133 North Alternate A1A)—a scenic waterfront spot that has played a key role in Jupiter’s maritime heritage. Staff and volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and share insights into the area’s early settlement, the importance of the railroad depot, and Jupiter’s cultural legacy.

Family-friendly, educational, and completely free, the Aicher House & Train Depot Open House offers a meaningful way for residents of all ages to connect with their community’s past while discovering the stories hidden just beneath our feet.
