By the Sea Lecture
By the Sea Lecture
Loggerhead Marinelife Center will welcome marine scientist Dr. Liberty Boyd for its January By the Sea Lecture, offering the public a closer look at how researchers study sea turtles in the wild and uncover the mysteries of their movements beneath the ocean’s surface.
The lecture takes place on January 21 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and will focus on the techniques and tools used to track sea turtle movements and foraging behaviors across marine habitats. Drawing from her research experience, Dr. Boyd will explain how modern technology—such as satellite tracking, data analysis, and field observation—helps scientists better understand where sea turtles travel, how they find food, and what they need to survive.
Designed for a general audience, the By the Sea Lecture series bridges the gap between science and the community, making complex research approachable for students, families, and anyone interested in marine conservation. Attendees can expect real-world examples, visuals from the field, and insights into how this research informs protection efforts for sea turtles locally and worldwide.
The evening offers a chance to learn directly from a working marine scientist while supporting Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s ongoing education and conservation mission—an engaging way to spend a winter evening by the coast.
